Tuckerfirst celebrated Easter today with a huge turnout for the contemporary service – and a record number of children! Paige regaled the kids with the story of the empty tomb, and Debbie shared her memories of Easter past (and present) and encouraged us all to roll away the stones in our lives. Today, Palm Sunday, Art led the children in a parade around the gym, the childrens’ choirs visited, and Debbie challenged us to consider what Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross means to us. To see the pictures from the service, check out this post. To hear Debbie’s message, click here.

On a truly fly-by-the-seat-of-our-pants Sunday, William Hemphil filled in on short notice to give us a message on (appropriately) what to do in crazy times, and Amanda shared the youth’s mission to send shoes to Africa. Today in worship, Tyler shared his favorite gifts that he’s received, Ted Warnock took two minutes to tell us about his relief work with UMCOR, and Debbie told us about Nicodemus’ encounter with Jesus in the night. You can hear her sermon here or subscribe to the podcast.

Yesterday evening, nine members of The Forgiven performed at Lawrenceville Road UMC for their regular Music for Missions event. The band played a great 15-song set, featuring the talents of each one of their members, and -best of all – raised $600 in donations for local missions!

In today’s service, as we kicked off the second week of Lent, we talked about what it means to “carry the cross.” Tyler encouraged us all to be Giving Trees, and Debbie asked us to look for God to deliver us through our suffering rather than from it.
